The
American Corner Gyumri (ACG) was opened on June 28, 2005. It is a
partnership between the Public Affairs Office of the Embassy of the
United States of America in Armenia and the National Center of Innovation
and Entrepreneurship. |
American
Corner in Armenia offers public programms and information about the
United States for the Armenian public. For example, the American Corners
host speakers, workshops and meetings, and serve as a venue for locally
generated programs such as an American film series, English classes
and educational advising. |

Each American Corner features a diverse collection of English language books and materials about the United States, similiar to a public library reference service. All the American Corners are staffed by bilingual Armenian library personnel who are available during regular library hours to assist patrons interested in specific information about the United States.
The
collection includes reference books, works of fiction, and commercial and
government publication.
American Corners also provide computers with guided Internet access, as
well as audio and video materials and CD-ROMs.
The collection's design includes support for information in English language
instruction. It also includes student advising materials, links to university,
admissions, and scholarship websites. American Corner also provides resources
about doing business in the United States.
The American Corners are small, American-style libraries created to help increase mutual understanding between Armenia and the United States by making available information about America.
Sponsored by the United States Embassy and Armenian libraries, American Corners Armenia is a joint partnership project that promotes cooperation and understanding between the United States and Armenia by providing open, accurate, and factual information about the United States.
