The award ceremony of the 22nd annual Science Olympiad of the Armenian Engineers & Scientists of America (AESA)
On May 19, the award ceremony of the 22nd annual Science Olympiad of the Armenian Engineers & Scientists of America (AESA) was held at the National Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship of the RA Ministry of Economy.
The goal of the Olympiad was to stimulate students' interest in engineering and sciences, mentoring, learning opportunities, and through scholarships facilitate their acquisition of knowledge outside of formal studies.
The award ceremony was attended by RA Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Araksia Svajyan and Armenian representative of AESA Vardan Gevorgyan and others.
In their speech, Deputy Minister Araksia Svajyan and Director of the Center Hayk Margaryan emphasized the role of project implementation, the development of students' research abilities, which can further contribute to the development of science in Armenia, as well as increasing the opportunities for commercialization of inventions, which is considered one of the main directions for the development of the National Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
The Olympiad was held on April 15-16, in which 133 students from 37 schools of Yerevan and RA marzes participated. 66 team and individual projects led by teachers were presented, as a result of which 55 students were recognized as winners.
More than 250 students and teachers attended the event. Deputy Minister Araksia Svajyan and Director of the Center Hayk Margaryan presented awards and scholarships to the winning students and teachers of the projects, and certificates for participation to the others.
The Shirakatsy Lyceum International Scientific-Educational Complex received award as the best school and Nelli Stepanyan, the chemistry and biology teacher of Vanadzor primary school No. 21, also as the best teacher.
